Session 3: Telehealth

Thanks for coming back to Acurata 101!

This week we will be learning about Acurata Telehealth and how it's integrated with some of the modules we've already learned about as well as modules we will be covering in upcoming sessions.

As the Coronavirus pandemic spread across the country this spring, the need to spin up telehealth solutions became paramount. Many healthcare organizations relied on consumer-facing products to fill the gap and address increased demand for a remote solution to the services they provided.

Several organizations used products like FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype. While these offerings allowed organizations without existing telehealth capabilities to quickly ramp up and fill the immediate need, they did not provide an integrated solution that served a strategic, long-term telehealth vision. Acurata answered that call.

Acurata Telehealth is available in all of our modules: Triage, Admissions, Referral Management, and Mobile Physicians, all within the Acurata mobile app and APEx Portal (beta phase, covered in week 5).  Initiate a secure, HIPAA compliant video visit at the touch of a button.

INITIATING A TELEHEALTH CALL WITH A PATIENT

Our on-call nurse, Janet, just received a notification on her Acurata mobile app that a patient, Howard Carpenter, is requesting a telehealth call.

In the above image, you can see when Janet opens her app and taps on the visit card to see more detail about the visit, she can initiate the call with Howard.

When Howard is logged into the APEx Portal, he is able to accept the call from Janet, all she needs to do is press the call button in her mobile app which will begin the video call. Janet will see Howard, as shown in the image above.

On Howard's end, he is using the Acurata Patient Experience Portal, or APEx. The APEx portal is a secure website that all patients and caregivers can access with the proper credentials. It allows them to request on-site or telehealth visits, and provide them with valuable information about their care. It is also what Howard will use to have a Telehealth call with Janet. When Howard or his caregiver is logged into APEx, they will see a window appear allowing them to accept or decline the call from Janet. In week 5 we will cover the APEx Portal in much more detail.

When Howard or his caregiver accepts the call from Janet, they will be connected securely to a video call which opens right in Howards web browser.

When the call is finished, both Janet and Howard will have a record of the call. Just like every other part of Acurata, reports can be compiled and analyzed by teams to provide top level care to your patients and their families.
